How to Export Your Strong App Data (2026 CSV Guide)
Open Strong, go to the Profile tab, tap the settings gear in the top left corner, and choose Export Workouts. Strong sends you a single CSV file containing your complete workout history. Body measurements export separately from the same Settings menu, one CSV per metric. The export is free, takes under a minute, and is the only copy of your training history that lives outside the app.
How do I export my workout history from Strong?
The export lives in Strong’s settings, not on the workout screens. Open the Profile tab, tap the gear icon in the top left corner, choose Export Workouts, and confirm. Strong generates one CSV file with every workout you have ever logged and hands it to the iOS share sheet (or emails it, depending on version). Save it somewhere that isn’t your phone: cloud storage, email, anywhere durable.
What does Strong’s workout CSV contain?
One row per set, with the workout’s details repeated on each row. The real header, from an actual export:
| Column | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Date | Workout start time, like 2021-07-24 10:37:18 |
| Workout Name | The routine name, like “Legs and Core” |
| Duration | Total workout length, like 1h 9m |
| Exercise Name | The exercise, like “Bench Press (Barbell)” |
| Set Order | The set’s position within that exercise |
| Weight | Load in your app’s unit (no unit column) |
| Reps | Reps completed |
| Distance | For distance exercises |
| Seconds | For timed exercises |
| RPE | Rating of perceived exertion, if you logged it |
How do I export body measurements from Strong?
Measurements export separately, and differently. From the same Settings menu, export your measurement data and pick which metrics to include (weight, waist, upper and lower abs, and so on). Strong produces one CSV per metric (strong_weight.csv, strong_waist.csv, and so on), each with Date, Measurement Type, Value, Unit, and Source columns. If you track weight plus a few tape measurements, expect a handful of small files rather than one.
Can I import a CSV back into Strong?
No. As of mid-2026, Strong has no CSV import; the export is a one-way door. That is the single most important thing to understand about it: Strong can produce a copy of your history, but it cannot take one back. If you ever switch apps, restore a lost phone without a backup, or just want your history somewhere queryable, the CSV you exported is what you’ll have.
Which apps can import a Strong CSV?
Hevy imports Strong’s workout CSV, which is the standard switching path between the two loggers (our 2026 app roundup compares the wider field). Taper (our app) imports both the workout CSV and the per-metric measurement files, maps your exercises, and adds per-import revert, so an import you don’t like disappears with one tap. Taper then reads that history’s weight, waist, and strength trends together and grades whether your training is working, which is the analysis neither logger attempts. The full walkthrough for the other direction is in our Hevy export guide, and our Strong alternatives guide maps where switchers land by what they’re missing.
Why export if I’m not switching apps?
Your training history is the most valuable dataset you own about your own body, and it currently lives in one app’s database on one phone. Export quarterly, whether or not you ever leave Strong. A CSV in your cloud storage costs nothing, survives lost phones and deleted accounts, and keeps every future choice open. Data you can’t take with you is data you’re renting. Try importing yours into Taper and see what it says about your last year of training.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Strong's data export free?
Yes. Exporting is available on both free and Strong Pro accounts, on iOS and Android, and there is no limit on how often you can export.
What date format does the Strong CSV use?
Timestamps like 2021-07-24 10:37:18 (year-month-day, 24-hour time), one per workout. Every set row in the same workout repeats the workout's start timestamp.
Are the weights in the Strong export kilograms or pounds?
The Weight column carries the number only, with no unit column. Values are in whatever unit your Strong app is set to log in, so note your setting before importing anywhere else.
Does the export include every workout I've ever logged?
Yes. The CSV contains your complete history, from your first logged session to your most recent, in a single file.
Does exporting change or delete anything in Strong?
No. The export is a read-only copy. Your data stays in the app exactly as it was.
Can I open the Strong CSV in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. It is a standard comma-separated file. Open it directly in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets to browse every set you've logged.
Can Taper import Strong body measurements too?
Yes. Taper (our app) imports the per-metric measurement files in one multi-select, uses weight and waist, and tells you which other metrics it skipped. Workout imports include per-import revert.
